Youth Homelessness
Youth homelessness is not just a housing issue—it’s a crisis of safety, stability, and lost opportunity. This program is designed to support young individuals across Arizona who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness by addressing both urgent needs and long-term independence. Many youth face circumstances such as family instability, aging out of foster care, or economic hardship. This initiative creates a safe, judgment-free space where young people are met with dignity and provided with real pathways to regain control of their lives.
Access to immediate shelter and crisis intervention is a critical first step. Youth are connected to resources like Native American Connections, which offers supportive housing and behavioral health services, and New Leaf, providing emergency shelter and transitional housing for vulnerable populations. For youth in crisis situations, Covenant House offers shelter, meals, and long-term support programs focused specifically on young people facing homelessness.
Stability extends beyond shelter, which is why this program prioritizes access to healthcare, food, and essential services. Youth are guided toward community health providers like Valleywise Health for medical and behavioral care, along with food access through St. Mary's Food Bank, one of the largest hunger relief organizations in the state. These resources ensure that basic needs are met so participants can begin focusing on rebuilding their lives.
Creating a path forward means investing in education and employment opportunities. Participants are connected with Chicanos Por La Causa for workforce development, housing support, and education programs. Additional job readiness and youth employment services are available through Year Up, helping young people gain skills, experience, and access to career pathways that lead to financial independence.
Long-term success is built through mentorship, emotional support, and community connection. Youth are connected to counseling services, peer support networks, and life coaching that help them process their experiences and build resilience. This program is not just about getting youth off the streets—it’s about helping them reclaim their confidence, rebuild their future, and step into a life of stability, purpose, and possibility. By leveraging diverse resources across Arizona, this initiative creates a bridge from crisis to empowerment.
