Imani Zaire

Imani's Story

Imani Zaire is the President for Barriers Breakthrough. He is married to Lisa Odom-Zaire and is the proud father of a son who graduated from both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Florida. Imani holds a Bachelor of Arts in Pan-African Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies, a Master’s degree in College Administration, and a Master’s degree in Special Education.

Throughout his career, Imani has worked to support young people who have faced systemic barriers, social challenges, and educational inequities. He is deeply dedicated to helping youth and young adults develop the skills, confidence, and resources needed to succeed.

Imani’s personal and professional journey has consistently focused on student success through relationship-building, guidance, and culturally responsive practices. After transitioning into public education, he continued his commitment to community-based support by developing mentorship programs for young Black and Native American youth. His work reflects a deep belief in the power of mentorship, education, and community collaboration to create lasting change for youth and young adults from diverse cultural backgrounds.

As President at Barriers Breakthrough—and as an African American male who understands the challenges and barriers within underserved communities—Imani remains committed to creating safe spaces where youth and young adults can grow, learn, and thrive with the proper education, tools, and resources.

He is a dedicated community advocate and mentor with a deep passion for empowering the next generation. His ongoing mission is to inspire confidence, uplift others by providing guidance and opportunity, and serve as a strong example of what is possible for youth and young adults everywhere.
